Event planning may seem like it is an easy job, but in reality there is a lot of hard work that goes into planning an event. When it comes to event planning there is always going to be a risk that some unforeseen problem will arise. Most of these problems can be solved with some quick thinking. However, there are a few mistakes that are quite common among event planners and can easily be avoided.
1. Too Many Guest Speakers
One of the mistakes that an event planner often makes is planning too many guest speakers. While it may seem like a good idea to have a lot of speakers, the fact is most of the people attending the event are not going to want to sit through speaker after speaker.
2. Failing to Double Check
Some event planners think that they are extremely prepared only to find out that there has been a spelling mistake on event literature or that there is not as much space at the venue as they thought.
3. Set up Time
Another mistake that event planners make is not allowing enough time for set up. Make sure that there is plenty of time available to set up everything that is needed for the event.
4. Not dealing with changes
Some event planners fail to realize that there are going to be changes that occur for the event all the way up to the event happening. Not noting these changes is one of the common mistakes that are made by a planner.
5. No Backup Plan
Many event planners fail to have a backup plan in place should something go wrong. It is extremely important to think of every possible scenario that could occur and make sure that there is another plan in place just in case.
