Alex is Director of Marketing & Events, with responsibility for developing The Up Group’s events strategy, including the flagship Digital Masters Awards, which takes place annually each June. Alex has over ten years of experience in the media industry. She began her career at Terrapinn, a B2B Media company, where she produced industry-leading European telecoms conferences. From here, Alex moved to the events team at Guardian News and Media where she worked on a wide variety of different projects – from managing flagship B2B events such as the Changing Media Summit, through to coordinating the brand’s presence and activity around key partnerships such as Manchester International Festival. During this time, Alex was also involved in hosting hack days and meet-ups to support the Guardian Developer Network following the launch of the Open Platform in 2009. Before joining the Up Group in January 2014, Alex was senior events manager at Gorkana Group, providers of the UK’s most recommended media database, monitoring and PR analysis service, and was responsible for managing the Group’s programme of briefings, panel debates and networking evenings. Alex has shared her knowledge on why b2b companies should invest in events, using event to target audiences and creating content, demonstrating what the brand is about and relationships.
