What You Should Know About Bridesmaids
The kind of dresses for the bridesmaids is based on their age the overall appearance that the bride is trying to achieve. Some pick very traditional dresses, and other want something more modern.
Bridal party fashion is different for each wedding, but, as a general rule, the bridesmaids should look like a single unit. Even if they aren’t in the same dresses, the colors should go together or be a part of an overall theme.
A lot of brides want their bridesmaids’ hair done up in a professional way. The accessories need to be plain and the bouquets should work well with the bridal flowers.
Break The Bridesmaid Dress Code
There are a lot of options when it comes to choosing the perfect dress for the bridesmaids, and it can be really overwhelming at first. Even though it’s nice to keep tradition, it’s also a good thing to change things up a little sometimes, too. Breaking the traditional bridesmaid dress code has become more en vogue. Just remember that you’re arranging a wedding, not going to a promo. Basically, just don’t get carried away with all the options you have. Try to be coordinated in some basic way, whether the dresses are all from the same designer or all of the same color.
What Should You Change About The Traditional Bridesmaid Dress Code?
You’ll probably want to change up the style on each girl, and maybe the length of each dress, as well. Breaking away from the tradition will mean that you will have to change up the style of each particular dress, maybe the cut of it: which girl is going to wear the strapless, the halter, the one shoulder, etc.
Also, ask the bridal attendant some questions about the dresses that you and your girls have in mind. Can you put a decal onto the dress or take one off if you don’t like the look of it? Can you change, remove, or add things to the dress? Ask about the ways the dress looks and how you might be able to alter it to make it look more like you want it to. Basically, the whole point of having your bridal party wear different dresses is to have each girl look great on their own, while complementing the look of each other and the bride-to-be.
Don’t think about a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to choosing a dress for different girls. Every girl has a distinct body type. With this approach, each girl can choose the style they think is most comfortable in from top-to-bottom. Based on your take about the dress’s length, you might even have some girls in knee-high dresses, some in high-low, etc. Just run with some of these ideas to the level where you are fine breaking the traditional dress code. No one wants to look back at their wedding album several years later and wonder what was going through their minds when they made the decision to dress their bridesmaids up in certain ways.
